Getting The Best Result Out Of The Kitchen By Renewing Your Mixer Taps

November 23, 2009

It’s commonly known that the correct style of kitchen mixer taps can improve the look and feel of a kitchen. And, regardless of whether you’re just updating the taps themselves or doing a ground up kitchen revamp, choosing the right tap to go with your decoration is of the utmost importance.

With the array of finishes and styles in the shops in this day and age, you’d think that locating the most befitting tap should be very simple. However, you could end up spoiled for choice or, if yourparticular sink is getting on in years, issues with compatibility may well restrict your choice in some way.

Tip: If going to be just replacing your existing mixers but not the kitchen sink, you will want to locate a tap assembly, that is going to fit the sink’s mounting-hole(s) and if your sink is quite a few years old and has twin tap holes, then you will have to take a measurement of the distance between the hole-centres. Once this is done, you may discover that your choices are restricted somewhat. I’ve been here and had to kiss goodbye to all the up to the minute designs.

When you’ve isolated what will and will not fit your sink, the next job is to select a style. If your kitchen decoration is modern, you’ll probably want something with a contemporary look; possibly with a brushed finish. However, if your kitchen is more traditional, then, one of the more classic styles with a polished yellow metal finish may be more befitting.

There’s one more thing to take into account: how much you want to spend. Please don’t make the same mistake I made a few years back and spend your money on a budget, imported mixer tap. The one I bought looked splendid when I first took it out of the box but a couple of years down the road when the thing started to break up, I wished I had spent the extra and got quality.
